Morning flight Delhi (DEL) → Bagdogra (IXB). Book an early departure (5–7 AM) to maximize arrival time. Pakyong Airport (PYG) is closer to Gangtok but has fewer flights. Private or shared cab from Bagdogra to Gangtok via NH-10 — scenic drive through Teesta Valley and tea gardens. Pre-book your cab to avoid overcharging. Check in and rest. Evening stroll on MG Marg — try local momos, thukpa, and Sikkim chang (millet beer).

Rumtek Monastery (morning) — the largest and most important monastery in Sikkim; seat of the Karma Kagyu Buddhist lineage. Enchey Monastery — perched on a ridge above town; spectacular Kanchenjunga views on clear days. Namgyal Institute of Tibetology — outstanding museum of Buddhist manuscripts and artefacts. Ganesh Tok & Hanuman Tok viewpoints — sunset panorama over Gangtok and surrounding valleys.

Tsomgo (Changu) Lake at 3,753m — sacred glacial lake; turquoise in summer, frozen in winter. Yak rides available. Carry warm clothing. Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir — shrine of the legendary Indian Army soldier said to still guard the border; deeply atmospheric stop. Nathula Pass (4,310m) — the historic India–China border crossing on the ancient Silk Route. Army outposts, dramatic scenery, and Buddhist prayer flags.

Full-day drive north via Mangan district. The road hugs the roaring Teesta River through deep gorges — some of the most dramatic scenery in Sikkim. Stop at Singhik Viewpoint — sweeping view of Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m) on clear mornings. Best before 9 AM. Chungthang confluence — where Lachen and Lachung rivers meet in a dramatic V-shaped valley. Arrive Lachung — a quiet Lepcha village at 2,700m. Evening walk around the wooden monastery; local meals of dal-bhat-tarkari.

Yumthang Valley (3,564m) — the Valley of Flowers. Rhododendrons carpet the entire valley in April–May; stunning even off-peak. Zero Point / Yumesamdong (4,800m) — the last inhabited point before China. Permanent snow, glaciers, icy silence. Temperature can be below 0°C even in June. Return to Lachung for lunch, then long drive back to Gangtok via Chungthang. Arrive late evening.

Scenic drive west via Ravangla — passing through rhododendron forests, Buddhist hamlets, and terraced farms. Pemayangste Monastery — one of the oldest in Sikkim (founded 1705); 3-storey monastery with exquisite woodcarvings and thangka paintings. Rabdentse Ruins — second capital of the Chogyal dynasty. A short forest trek leads to this atmospheric hilltop ruin with views of Kanchenjunga. Singshore Bridge — one of Asia's highest suspension bridges (220m above the gorge); heart-stopping walk across.

Wake at 5:30 AM for Kanchenjunga sunrise — a golden blaze over the third-highest peak in the world. This view alone is worth the trip. After breakfast, checkout and drive to Bagdogra airport (3.5–4h via Siliguri corridor). Allow buffer time — mountain roads can be delayed. Book an afternoon flight (2–5 PM departure) to safely make it. Arrive Delhi by evening
